The Iran Crisis: An Analysis
Lately, there have been many events about Iran who is at odds
with the west
particularly Israel, United States and Great Britain. What is really happening.
Are we heading close to a nuclear war? Is Iran going to attack Israel? Let us
have a look in a Bible perspective.
|Three national flags were
burned during the attack of British Embassy in Tehran, Iran by Iranian
students: the flags of Great Britain, the United States and Israel.
Recently, in November 29, 2011 the British Embassy in Iran was
attacked by a group of Iranian students. The attack came two days
after the Iranian parliament voted to expel the British ambassador, Dominick Chilcott, in retaliation for the new economic sanctions imposed by the west.
The root issue is Iran's ambition to develop energy generated by
nuclear power. However, the west believes that it is actually developing a
nuclear bomb and is very close to that goal. The west is extremely against it
since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad openly threatened to wipe out Israel from
Now these nations are in one spotlight: the United States, Great
Britain along with the EU and Israel, all against Iran, the old nemesis, the
Persian Empire. Does the Bible prophesied about this current event? I would say
no. In fact, the ancient Persian Empire through Cyrus the Great actually
liberated the Jews from the hand of king Nebuchadnezzar after their 70 years of
captivity in Babylon. King Cyrus also brought back to Jerusalem the tools and
material of the Holy Temple and rebuild it.
The United States,
Great Britain along with the EU and
Israel as we have discussed are the
chosen nations of God. They used to be one, the ancient Israel under king David
and Solomon. As it has been since Israel became a nation, they were in constant
attack and persecution. There was no time in history except during the reigns of
King David and Solomon that they had peace. That is a peace meaning there is no
real threat from enemies around them. But real peace is just an illusion since they
were told by God that they shall always have an enemy around them to test them due to their
sins. Note this warning from God to Israel during Joshua's time:
Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved
them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the LORD
had compassion on them as they groaned under those who oppressed and afflicted
them. But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt
than those of their fathers, following other gods and serving and worshiping
them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.
Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel and said, "Because this nation has
violated the covenant that I laid down for their forefathers and has not
listened to me, I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua
left when he died. I will use them to test Israel and see whether they will keep
the way of the LORD and walk in it as their forefathers did." The LORD had
allowed those nations to remain; he did not drive them out at once by giving
them into the hands of Joshua.
So if we want to understand why this is happening to the west,
it is the same reason as in their beginnings--disobedience.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran had openly and repeatedly
threatened to wipe Israel off the map. His remarks caused distrust by
the west on his nuclear ambitions.
For Great Britain, it has become a pattern as both nations have
a long history of diplomatic wrangling. Great Britain has always been against
Iran except during the time of the Shah dynasties in the 60's and the 70's whom
along with the United States, they have strongly supported as 'the pliable
"policeman" of the Gulf, a counterweight to Soviet influence in the Middle East,
and treated Iran as a lucrative export market, especially for weapons' (The
Guardian). The United States for its part relied on diplomatic arm-twisting
through economic sanctions
to force Iran to give up its nuclear ambition. Economic sanction is similar to
surrounding the walls of Jerusalem in the ancient times so as not to allow any
people, food and supplies going in and out of the defended city to weaken them,
or press them to surrender. However, that has achieved
nothing so far. Here are some reports from
Fox News on the west's stance on the crisis:
Against the backdrop of the crisis, the
White House seeks to double down on diplomacy. "What we're focused on is a
diplomatic strategy which...increases the pressure on the Iranians, through
financial pressure, through economic sanctions, through diplomatic isolation,"
explained deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes.
The truth is that while the White House may believe
it has still more time for robust diplomacy, but after years of threatening
biting sanctions, neither Iran nor Israel believe Obama to be credible.
Add to that differing threat assessments,
calculations and the ticking clock of Iranian nuclear developments and there is
much that will get in the way of U.S. diplomatic efforts.
United States, the European Union, and Israel may all share concerns
regarding Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, but each has remarkably different threat
For the United States, a nuclear weapons
capable Islamic Republic is strategically untenable: A nuclear Iran would set
off a cascade of proliferation while Iranian authorities, secure behind their
own nuclear deterrent, might launch a terrorist campaign unseen in the region
since the 1980s.
For the European Union, Iranian acquisition of nuclear
weapons would signal a defeat for Europe’s multilateral philosophy: The Iranian
nuclear portfolio, after all, was the first issue outside European borders on
which the European Union took the lead. European diplomats wanted to show that
they could resolve the Iran crisis through quiet dialogue and with the
assistance of international organizations such as the
European officials know their failure will be the death knell
for the internationalist approach and will provide red meat for Americans who
believe that unilateralism is the only effective way to handle rogue regimes.
For Israel, however, the Iranian threat is
existential. Israeli officials do not forget that Iranian officials have
repeatedly suggested not only that Iran seeks to build a nuclear bomb, but also
may use it.
On December 14, 2001, former President Ali Akbar
Hashemi Rafsanjani observed, “The use of an atomic bomb against Israel would
totally destroy Israel, while the same against the Islamic world would only
Regardless of their assessments on Iran's growing threat, the
Bible is clear about what is happening in the Middle East today. Although the
prophecies did not mention specifically what is happening now in Iran, the
following are true on what the Bible says:
Israel's enemies will
always be around to test them. Not only that they will be tested continually but
they shall be harmed and chased upon by Satan as portrayed in
Rev 12. Check the lessons on Ten Horns
Part 1 and Part 2
There shall always be wars
and rumours of wars until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
That Israel shall not fall
under the Persians. They will will be conquered by the last day Babylonians.
At this stage, Israel will not fall at their hands. Europe must fall first. Read

For Israel, it is important for them to know that even though
that Iran's ultimate objective is to wipe them off the map, that will not surely
happen. It also important for them to know they should not rely on the U.S.A.
for help. Read

Fighting Iran on their own terms will only give the Iranians a
stronger determination to pursue their goal. Read again these reports from
On February 14, 2005, Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer Kharrazi, secretary-general of
Iranian Hezbollah, declared, "We are able to produce atomic bombs and we will do
that,” adding, “The U.S. is not more than a barking dog."
Then, three months later, Gholam Reza Hasani, a
confidante of the Supreme Leader, declared possession of nuclear weapons to be
one of Iran’s top goals.
Finally, in February 2006, Rooz, an Iranian website
close to Iran’s reformist camp, quoted a Qom theologian as saying it was only
"natural" for Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
Now we understand why nothing is happening in spite of the tight
sanctions by the west. Enemies will always be around to challenge them on equal
terms: nuclear against nuclear weapons. God has fulfilled his Great Promise to
Abraham, Isaac and Israel to become the wealthiest and the most powerful nations
on earth today. However, these wealth and power will mean nothing if they become
disobedient. Even the weakest nation can defeat them.
"'As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in
the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to
flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even
though no one is pursuing them. They will stumble over one another as though
fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be
able to stand before your enemies.'"
What Israel need now is to repent, go back to the Lord and seek
His face. So far, I am not sure if any leader in Israel had cried out to
God to help them but surely they relied on the U.S.A. for help. Therefore this prophecy
has become true to them:
|A satellite image taken on one of the
Iranian missile facility on November 22, 2011 before and after a big
explosion. The station was allegedly testing a missile to carry nuclear
warhead that had a mysterious explosion that totally destroyed the
facility. No one has claimed responsibility yet. Is this a Divine
Woe to those who go down to Egypt [U.S.A.] for help, who rely on horses, who
trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their
horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD.
Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He
will rise up against the house of the wicked, against those who help evildoers.
But the Egyptians are men and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit.
When the LORD stretches out his hand, he who helps will stumble, he who is
helped will fall; both will perish together.
Israel will have a better chance of success if they attack on
their own than to rely on the modern Egypt. They have proven and done it successfully in
their campaigns against
the alliance of Arab nations in the Six-Day War in 1967 and in Yum Kippur War in
they have rescued airplane hostages in a far hostile airport in Entebbe, Uganda
in 1976 and
the bombing of Iraq's atomic reactor plant in 1981 and another nuclear
reactor was bombed in Syria in 2007.
What I am saying is, God have let Israel succeed because He had bigger plans for
that nation. God will still preserve Israel so the prophecies against them
will be fulfilled in the last days that Israel will only fall after the other
Tribes have fallen. No,

A Great Lie to understand what God has prepared for the
future of Israel. Israel should not fear Iran or any nations but fear
only the Lord. Iran is just a test to them and to the west. I am not encouraging them to
strike Iran but to leave to God their fate and God will work for them. I believe
that the explosion in one of the Iranian missile testing facilities as pictured
above was a divine intervention. Probably because the Jews may now be slowly
relying on the true God and not on human power because of the futility of
depending on the allies as prophesied. Or maybe because so many Christians in
the world are praying for Israel. It is happening before our eyes!
But in due time, Jerusalem will be surrounded by armies, Iran to be
among them—then and only then will Israel fall. It will not be caused by trading
ballistic missiles against against Iran even if they have always bragged to
wiped them off the map.
"When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies , you will know that its
desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let
those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For
this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written."
But there will be also a time that God will gather all Israel
including the Ten Lost Tribes back to their
homeland and will settle there forever in real peace. Their enemies will all bow
to them and they will be feared among the nations. Below is God's promise to
in the last days to those who have hoped in Him.
This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
"See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner to the peoples;
they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their
shoulders. Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing
mothers. They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground; they will
lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who
hope in me will not be disappointed."
Can plunder be taken from warriors, or captives rescued from the fierce?
But this is what the LORD says:
"Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the
fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will
save. I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on
their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the LORD, am
your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."
