Top Ten Questions that Atheists Ask

I have search the top ten questions that the unbelievers often ask. To them these questions hinder them into believing that there is God. They struggle with the fact that the supposed answers did not convince them. God loves them and He wants them to believe. And yet it requires a certain state of mind and heart before God reveals Himself. Jesus refused to give signs that the Pharisees were asking so that they will be convinced that he was the Messiah because the condition of their hearts were evil.

Matt 12:38-40
Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you."

He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Today, it remains the same. Atheists will remain as atheists until they meet that proper approach to ask God. Here are the questions.

1. Why Won’t God Heal Amputees?
Why some people get amputated in the first place? Is it due to a disease? War? Accident? God has the power to bring one’s limb back but will draw from him a better reward that is awaiting him in heaven. God knows better. Not one amputee is known to have regained a lost limb in the Bible either. Why? Like the man born blind, the reason is clear – God is preparing a reward. Soon in the after life millions will say they would have preferred to be blind in the flesh than to have sight in eternal damnation.

Matt 18:8-9
"If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.  And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye , rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

John 9:1-4
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

2. Why are there so many starving people in the world?

God does not want us to starve or suffer. All our sufferings are product of our disobedience.

Deut 28:15-21

"But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

"Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country.
Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out."

"The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess."

God wants the best for us but it comes only through obedience.

Deut 28:1-8

"Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:

Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you."

Has any of us obeys God today? Are we following His commandments? Have we not lied or become honest? Instead of questioning God, let us obey Him first and we shall experience abundance.

I like this passage from the King James Bible which says:

John 10:10
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (KJV).

3.  Why does God demand death of so many innocent people in the Bible?

Read the passages in Ex 35:2, Deut 21:18-21, Lev 20:13, Deut 22:13-21. These people were actually disobedient unto God. They were not innocent. The disobedience to the Ten Commandments was punishable by death. For other sins, they normally slaughter an animal and the blood of the animal was used by the High Priest to "wash" away the sin of the sinner. However, for the sins punishable by death, no less than your own life will be required. That was why the method they used was stoning to death. It was a slow death, agonizing and bloody. The person's own blood is the sacrifice he has to pay for his sins and slow death will give him a chance to repentance and be forgiven by God. He was actually being rescued from eternal death for it is better to die the physical death than to suffer eternally in hell.

God is holy, no one in mortal flesh will live face to face with God. It is this holiness and our sinfulness that sets us infinitely apart from Him. In the Old Testament times, people lived by the law.

Ex 20:18-19
Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. Then they said to Moses," You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die."

During the time of Moses, God manifested Himself openly through great wonders and miracles despite their sinful ways. Those miracles and wonders could not have been possible if not for the four hundred years of slavery the Hebrews suffered under the Egyptian rule. As they reached the end of their rope, God was ready to display His awesome salvation. However, there is great price to pay. If, in spite of the God’s manifestation of His power and people will not believe and sin, they will receive the punishment of death. For God is Holy, extremely pure and clean. He wants us to be one with Him and that requires purity, perfect holiness as Him. That was made possible through Christ’s death on the cross. Now, there is no more need to sacrifice an animal, no more stoning to death to pay for our own grave sins. Jesus Christ did the ultimate sacrifice, it was finished, 2000 years ago.

4. Why does the Bible contain so much scientific non-sense?

Cell phones, car, TV, computers – created by science. The atheist says science is more helpful and more sensible.

This atheist does not believe that God created heaven and earth in six days and man came from the dust of the ground. He does not believe in Noah’s flood. That Jonah’s was in the fish’s belly for three days. 

God is the author of life and is above science. All our gadgets did come in full knowledge of God in the right times. Man has multiplied and filled the whole earth. God allows machines to be developed so that our everyday life becomes easier, faster—only to benefit the physical being. No one gadget has brought us closer to God and improved our chances of salvation a bit. In fact to some, our modern day machines had brought us farther away from Him. It brought us much knowledge that we begin to question God’s existence. However, modern communication has enabled ordinary Christians to spread the Good News worldwide faster to anywhere wherever there is internet access. However, the same technology shall be used by the Antichrist to rule the world with iron fist. he will be able to trace easily who are for or against him through the scannable implants under our skins. By then, we will abhor modern technology and seek the power of God instead of our own inventions.

Dan 12:4
"But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase."

5. Why does God a proponent of such great slavery in the Bible.

Apparently, he is referring to the slavery of the Hebrews in Egypt. God needs our lows and ebbs so He can display Himself more openly. He wants our emptiness so He can work in our lives. The Hebrew people was subjected to slavery so God can later on rescue them and made Himself known to His chosen people. 

Ex 3:7-10
And the Lord said: "I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and
have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."

In the last days, same thing will happen. So many people will experience hardships, sufferings. The Great Tribulation shall be far more difficult for the chosen and yet God shall allow this to happen.

Now, always remember this principle—without suffering, there will be no reward and blessing. This also applied to Jesus’ death that there is no salvation without His death.

Heb 9:22
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Again the Great Tribulation of the last days will subject Christians to extreme hardships. God will be refining them. That is because even Christians today are stained with worldly desires and idolatry. We are like the ancient Hebrews who remained unfaithful in spite of God’s display of wonders. Right now, God is so displeased with what He is seeing in us and He will not answer our prayers but will allow suffering to come to us in order that we will seek Him.

In Isaiah 54:8 it says,
“In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer.

During the Great tribulation, so many believers will be beheaded and they will ask justice. But not until the complete measure of suffering is reached, God will not show up and execute justice. His justice and redemption will come only during the Day of the Lord, the last year of the last seven years.

Rev 6:10-11
They called out in a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.

6. Why do bad things happen to good people?

In fact the question is already wrong in the first place. Not one is good for everyone fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). We can only expect bad things every minute of our lives.

Isa 24:5-6
The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.
Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth's inhabitants are burned up, and very few are left.

Therefore the question should be corrected this way: Why do good things happen to bad people? Good things happen to bad people only because God is merciful. We don’t deserve grace and mercy and yet God’s goodness still overflows.

Lam 3:22-24
Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."

The world is not the Christians kingdom. Christians are just strangers to the world. This world is ruled by Satan, the Devil, the enemy of the believers and believers are Satan's enemies. What would Christians expect from the enemy? We belong to the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, whose Kingdom shall never end and governments shall be upon His shoulders. That Kingdom will come soon!

1 Peter 2:11-12
Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Isa 9:6-7
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

7. Why didn’t any of Jesus’ miracles in the Bible leave any evidence?

Only the fool will not realize that Jesus has left the greatest miracle He has ever done, and it happens everyday and it can happen to everyone—our salvation. Not only that. God has prophesied so many miracles that has yet to happen but when that happens, it’s too late for unbelievers and it will be His Second Coming. Many prophecies, about 90% of all prophecies are still to be fulfilled during our times.

The last seven years will be the manifestation of His great wonders in the Old Testament, we call it the Confirmation of the Covenant. Soon we will witness our modern day version of the Great Exodus, the conquest of the Promised Land, the Fall of Israel and Judah, the Rise of Babylon, the reign of the great Pharaoh or the Antichrist who will cause devastation worldwide. Then the people will realize the mighty power of God. Daniel prophesied about this repetition of history.

Dan 9:27
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [7 days or 7 years]: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The great distress that is coming is for the people to see how the Old Testament events happened. The antichrist shall be instrumental in recreating history before our eyes. The Confirmation of the Covenant shall be a great evidence that the Bible is true and everything written did indeed happened as this prophecy of Isaiah says about those people experiencing the awesome wonders of God. Isa 63:11
Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses and his people — where is he who brought them through the sea,
with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them...

8. How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you?

We can surely explain but it can never be believed or understood. By faith we believe that Jesus is here in us, living with us.

Rev 3:20-21
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Christians live by faith and that is the simple explanation.

Rom 1:17-20
For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith ."

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

He can appear to anyone if He wills but that negates the meaning of what faith is. Once we see what we hoped for, that is no longer call faith for faith is believing what we do not see.

Heb 11:1-2
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

9. Why would Jesus want you to eat His body and drink His blood?

He says this is cannibalistic or satanic ritual.

See, even the atheist believes in Satan. He only believes in evil and evil corrupted his mind, blinded his senses from the Truth. Jesus is now our Passover Lamb. During the night before the Hebrews were set to leave Egypt in the Great Exodus, they were requested to kill a lamb, sprinkle its blood on the doorposts and eat the flesh overnight leaving nothing by morning. Jesus is the Lamb of God, the ultimate sacrifice and He wanted us to commemorate this event throughout the generations until He comes again.

Ex 12:1-13
Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, "This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire — its head with its legs and its entrails. You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord's Passover.

'For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

10. Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians?

Are they real Christians in the first place? And even if say some are indeed Christians, it did not give them exemptions not to have the freedom of choice anymore. Any Christian still has the tendencies to backslide, fall away and do the usual, worldly ways. True Christians will never make himself astray from the flock of sheep. There are too much temptations and evils in the world, in every street corner, in every home. It is even more made available to every age through modern technology. True Christian should never give priority to the desire of the flesh but to spirit. 

It is a shame that some professing Christian still behave like the world does. This is now the disease most church are suffering and it has causing so many not to believe in the promise of a changed lives anymore as this one atheist has observed. I have seen churches that suffer that who look into God only like a charity institution or a bank whom they can go to in times of need. If they have enough, they forget God but if they are in trouble, they pray. If they are in trouble, they blame God and worse, they renounce their faith. If their marriage is becoming messy, they file for divorce as everybody does instead of seeking God's help. Are Christians supposed to suffer for Christ? Surrender all our suffering to God and we shall see His blessings and solve our marital woes.

Matt 24:13
But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

Only the fool believes that there is no God.

Ps 14:1-3
The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Now, let me tell you this. There are so many mysteries we may not be able to answer. However, it does not change the fact that there is a living God who created the universe and every life form. So instead of doubting the existence of God, why not seek Him and ask for His answers? Nobody gets an answer by remaining an atheist. To God, His words are precious and free, but not to be peddled as cheap merchandise to those who are not interested and lacks faith. There was not any instance in the Bible that Jesus forcibly imposed Himself to unbelievers, but to those who believe, He opens up the Truth and revelations that answers their seemingly unanswerable questions.

I invite those who do not believe before it is too late for you. Challenge God to answer your questions by coming to Him and you will find rest for your soul. The Truth shall set you free. We all live for a purpose and you have a purpose in life under the sun and the whole universe to fulfill. Everyone is precious to Him and He is preparing a wonderful future with you. That future may not be on earth but a more wonderful place that no one can describe. When you get there, all your questions will have answers even before you ask. For now just live by faith and that is all that it takes to start searching for answers.
