New York City : The Throne of the Antichrist

Many are wondering about the many prophecies about Tyre, an ancient seaport. Its adjacent city, Sidon, was also considered an important seaport due to its strategic location. King Nebuchadnezzar conquered these port cities along with Judah and Egypt . Both Tyre and Sidon have never recovered from their destruction as a major seaports since then. But according to the prophecies, Tyre shall rise again to serve her old role as the marketplace of nations, an important seaport, home of musicians, and to become the seat of the Antichrist.

Revelation 13:1 speaks of the dragon standing on the shore of the sea:

And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea (Rev 13:1).

This passage means more than simply standing on the shore. It should have significant meaning; otherwise, the Antichrist standing on the shore does not deserve to be written at all in the prophecies. During the time of the prophecy, the Antichrist is waging war against all Christians (Rev 12:17), and he controls the world within the confines of his throne – on the shore of the sea, meaning a seaside. The verse is simply telling us that the Antichrist will set his throne on the seashore. In relation to this, let us also look and connect with an Old Testament prophecy about Satan being the king of the famous ancient seaport of Tyre.

In Ezek 28:11–15, it is written that Satan is the king of Tyre.

The word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “’You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.

In the same chapter, Satan was prophesied to meet his horrible end after God consumes him with fire and will be no more. This is no doubt referring to last days and this Tyre should point to us to this specific throne of Satan living as Antichrist.

By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries. So I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more (Ezek 28:18–19).

Note that the king of Tyre was involved in a trading business that made him rich. Read also Ezek 27:12-23, Ezek 28: 5, 6 about Tyre as a world's trading center. So Tyre was a famous ancient seaport and a marketplace in prophecies, the prophesied throne of the Antichrist. She was a fortified Phoenician city facing the Mediterranean Sea and was a major seaport even during the early years of the nation of Israel. Tyre was first mentioned in the book of Joshua 19:29 when Joshua was dividing the land of Canaan among the twelve tribes of Israel. Tyre was included among the territories of Asher, one of the tribes.

The second time it was mentioned was about four hundred years after when King Hiram of Tyre provided King David of Israel with cedar logs and workers to build his palace (2 Sam 5:11). By then Tyre was no longer Israel’s territory. Later on, the same King Hiram also provided logs and craftsmen to King Solomon, the son of King David who succeeded him to build God’s temple (1 Kings 5:10–18).

Map shows the neighboring ancient seaports of Tyre and Sidon, which lie along the east coast of Mediterranean sea.

During those days, seaports were the main entry point for global travel and commerce. Due to the strategic location of Tyre, it easily became a very important center of world trade in the Middle East. Tyre had a twin seaport, Sidon, around 30 kilometers north of it. Tyre and Sidon are often mentioned together in the Bible. Jesus Christ had at one time, made a short stop at Tyre and healed the demon possessed daughter of a Canaanite woman after testing her faith (Matt 15:21–28). Jesus also mentioned Tyre and Sidon as He denounced the nearby cities of Korazin and Bethsaida due to their unbelief (Matt 11:21).

Read the whole prophecy on Tyre in Ezekiel 27 and 28. Note also this passage about Tyre from Ezekiel 27:31–32:

As they wail and mourn over you, they will take up a lament concerning you: “Who was ever silenced like Tyre, surrounded by the sea?” When your merchandise went out on the seas, you satisfied many nations; with your great wealth and your wares you enriched the kings of the earth.

Consider and compare the similarities of the above passages with this prophecy about the fall of Babylon in the book of Revelation:

Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry: “Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon , city of power! In one hour your doom has come!” The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes any more – cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble (Rev 18:10–12).

Notice that the future Babylon is now referred to as a city, not a kingdom, since the capital or center of ancient Kingdom of Babylon was also named the city of Babylon. Like Tyre, the City of Babylon is also pictured as a prominent marketplace of nations. It is now confined to a smaller place, a capital city, the seat itself of the Antichrist . With this in mind, we will be able to identify the future city of the Antichrist. We know the country as the modern Egypt, the USA, but what particular place in the USA? Read "Modern Geography in Prophecies" for details. Also, notice an important clue here. Read the succeeding verses of Revelation 18 and see that this City of Babylon is a coastal city since sea captains can see the smoke of her burning.

In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin! Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off. When they see the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim, “Was there ever a city like this great city?” They will throw dust on their heads and with weeping and mourning cry out: “Woe! Woe, O great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin!” (Revelation 18:17–19).

Definitely, the city of Babylon is a marketplace of nations where traders ply through seas. The prophecies on the characteristics of the city of Babylon of Revelation 18 have a very peculiar similarities with the port city of Tyre in Ezekiel 27, 28, and Isaiah 23. This is simply because the last–day Tyre is the last–day city of Babylon, the seat of the Antichrist and the capital city of the future world Babylonian kingdom.

Compare again the above verses with another prophecy about Tyre,

Your wealth, merchandise and wares, your mariners, seamen and shipwrights, your merchants and all your soldiers, and everyone else on board will sink into the heart of the sea on the day of your shipwreck.

The shorelands will quake when your seamen cry out. They will raise their voice and cry bitterly over you; they will sprinkle dust on their heads and roll in ashes. They will shave their heads because of you and will put on sackcloth. They will weep over you with anguish of soul and with bitter mourning. As they wail and mourn over you, they will take up a lament concerning you: “Who was ever silenced like Tyre, surrounded by the sea?” (Ezek 27:27, 30–32).

This is how the port of Tyre looks like today, hardly a busy seaport to conform with the prophecy being the end–time marketplace of nations.

Notice again the phrase in bold italics compared in the previous passage in Rev 18:17-19. And in Ezekiel 28:18,

By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries. So I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching.

These prophecies were written as if these were already accomplished. It is clear that the city of Babylon is the big seaport of Tyre . Let us try to locate where this port city is. The seaport should be big enough in order that it could now be considered as the world’s trade center, an important seaport in modern times. This seaport should be located inside the USA if the prophecy is to be credible since we had already identified America as the site of the throne of Antichrist. Read the topics "Modern Geography in Prophecies" and "The Antichrist" for more details.

Moreover, Isaiah 23:7–8 prophesied that Tyre is now resettled somewhere and far from its original location:

Is this your city of revelry, the old, old city, whose feet have taken her to settle in far–off lands? Who planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants are princes whose traders are renowned in the earth?

The old city of merchants will be resettled to far–off lands, time yet a distant future of Isaiah’s time and now in the lands still adjacent to God’s own people, Israel, with a different name.

In prophecies, it is important to understand that names of places as well as peoples are usually used as symbols and figures of speech for a purpose already taken in the topic “The Confirmation of the Covenant.” Their real identities are known by wisdom and the help of other prophecies or by their “fruits” – the seed should produce the same fruit.

Shown here is the entrance to the New

York Harbor. At foreground is the Statue of Liberty, and the background is the Manhattan Island with its famous skyscrapers. Truly, New York befits its being called “the Great City” (Revelation 18:19). It is destined to become the capital of the world kingdom of the Antichrist , the new Tyre and city of Babylon. The author believes that the famous statue will be transformed into the Antichrist’s image for all men to bow down to, thus becoming the “abomination that causes desolation .”

In this case, Tyre was used only as a symbol, a sign of its last days’ counterpart.

What are the signs or fruits? Based on the above biblical passages, these are the following:

1. It is one of the world’s busiest seaports and also a major world financial center

2. It should be adjacent to the present nation of Israel.

3. It will be ruled directly by the future world king, the Antichrist.

We have learned that the Antichrist shall establish his throne in the nation of Manasseh, the USA ruling as pharaoh, being the “eighth” king. Going now to statistics based on the signs stated above, let us trace where this large seaport is. Confining on the seaports of America, among the largest seaports is no other than the port of New York and New Jersey . According to the 1994 Guinness Book of Records, the port has a navigable waterfront of 755 miles (295 miles in New Jersey), stretching over ninety–two miles. A total of 261 general cargo berths and 130 other piers give a total berthing capacity of 391 ships at any one time. The total warehousing floor space is 422.4 acres.

Today, the Wikipedia Encyclopedia describes the two seaports this way:

The Port of New York and New Jersey comprises the waterways in the estuary of the New York–Newark metropolitan area with a port district encompassing an approximate area within a 25–mile (40 km) radius of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. The system of navigable waters along 650 miles (1050 km) of shoreline in the vicinity of New York City and northeastern New Jersey is considered one the finest natural harbors in the world. The port is by tonnage the third largest in the United States and the busiest on the East Coast.

The UN headquarters, also in New York, is the world’s organization for peace. Soon it shall be used as the Antichrist ’s headquarters for a new world government

Just like the old Tyre, New York Harbor is an island seaport facing the Atlantic Ocean. Today, the port cities of New York and New Jersey are surely the modern Tyre and Sidon. Both of them are located along the coastline of USA, part of the nation of Israel. Read "The Real Roots of America" for details. Incidentally, the seaport of New York has also a twin seaport in New Jersey which proves again the accuracy of the prophecies.

The Wikipedia Encyclopedia also says that the economy of New York City is one of the largest regional economies in the United States. The city is a global center for business and commerce and is one of the main cities that control world finance along with London, Paris, and Tokyo. It is considered by many to be the financial capital of the world.

New York is also a great city of entertainment next only to Hollywood, the world’s biggest. Many artists who wish to make a big name in the entertainment industry always dream of making a name in the Broadway theatres in the city of New York. And most often, those who wish to be successful in business, arts and entertainment, etc. settle for New York earning its name as the Big Apple. It is a city that has practically no evening as they say, the City that Never Sleeps. The Wikipedia Encyclopedia describes New York again as:

The modern day Tyre, the city of New York, with the famous Broadway is also the City of Music..."The music of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again  (Rev 18:22) and the City of Lights... "The light of a lamp will never shine in you again" (Rev 18:23). Indeed, the prophecies are describing the city of New York.

Times Square, iconified as “The Crossroads of the World”, is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway theater district, one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world’s entertainment industry. Anchored by Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, New York vies with London as the financial capital of the world and is home to the New York Stock Exchange, the world’s largest stock exchange by market capitalization of its listed companies.

New York under the Antichrist shall even be more grandiose . . . or worse.

The music of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No workman of any trade will ever be found in you again. The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again. The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again. Your merchants were the world’s great men. By your magic spell all the nations were led astray. In her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth (Rev 18:22–24).

There is another reason why the future world ruler would choose New York as an ideal site for a new world government headquarters. Aside from being the center of world trade and commerce, New York is also the site of the United Nations central headquarters. The U.N. was a brainchild of the West, and with the blessings from God, it was established to promote peace and cooperation among nations. Its seal is the earth surrounded by laurel leaves against a sky blue background symbolizing peace and cooperation among nations. This time it shall be used as the throne of the Antichrist to rule the world with terror. It is the most unlikely place for the purpose since it is an institution for peace. Now we can understand the message from Mark 13:14 (emphasis mine) that says,

The bird’s–eye view of Manhattan Island, New York, America ’s business and trade center and the world’s most admired city, the “City that Never Sleeps” and the “Big Apple.”

When you see “the abomination that causes desolation ” standing where it does not belong [let the reader understand] then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Likewise, it shall be an ideal site for war headquarters. Facilities are already in place to govern the world and monitor worldwide activities. Besides, it would deal him a perfect chance to get even with the UN since Iraq was badly and “unfairly persecuted” by the international body. It is responsible for his defeat in his own country, Iraq – at the hands of U.N. alliance of nations, Find time reading the papers every day and discern that many events now in the Middle East and Europe are leading to that direction. Read about the obelisks, the real roots of America and the about the Antichrist for additional details.

Therefore, the modern day Tyre and Sidon in prophecies are the ports of New York and New Jersey. These two ports are in the last days City of Babylon, New York City.

Interestingly, there is a town in New York named Babylon. According to its history, it was named Babylon by the Conklin family way back in 1803 when the place was still very remote and lonely. Below is an excerpt from the website about how the town got its name:

They say that Mrs. Conklin, probably with the peace of the inland hills fixed in her mind, was not happy in a spot where her grandchildren would be brought up with a posting tavern as their neighbor, and compared their lonely lot to that of the Babylon captivity of the exiled Judeans. Mr. Conklin was not as troubled at the prospect here as was his mother. It is reported that he replied to her wailing comment: “Oh, no Mother! It will be a New Babylon ” and gave evidence of his faith in his new home by placing a stone tablet in the chimney front of the house inscribed:

Shown here is the map of New York City and neighboring areas. Has the boy simply spoke words of comfort or was divinely inspired to fix the name Babylon for their place in history and to fulfill the prophecies? Note the seaports of New York and New Jersey lie side by side like its ancient counterparts, Tyre and Sidon .

Keep watching about the world events how they unfold exactly as prophesied. Become a believer and you will protected from God's fury in the last days. To God be the glory!
