What Is Happening to Israel?

Israel we know today is a "new" nation re-established in May 14, 1948. However, it is one of the oldest nations on earth with her history dating back in the time when Canaan was conquered and occupied by the then, landless nation of Israel. The life of the ancient nation of Israel can be described as ebbs and tides except that she has more ebbs than the tides. Their successes depended on how they obeyed God and since they sinned more than they obeyed, they experienced long years of misery. However, during those times that they were faithful and obedient, they became the most powerful nation on earth. That zenith of glory was achieved during the time of King David and his son, King Solomon. Enemies remained around them until today. Since those times, they did not have lasting peace. Only the Southern House remained composing primarily the Tribe of Judah. The reason God allowed the House of Judah to remain as a nation after the captivity in Babylon was to fulfill the prophecy that the Messiah shall come from Judah and was fulfilled when Jesus Christ, the Messiah was born in Jerusalem almost 2000 years ago. The nation we see today is the same nation, the House of Judah, among with her is the tribe of Benjamin along with few Levites. After Jesus Christ went up to Heaven, Israel has never experience peace, power and true material blessings anymore. It's capital City, Jerusalem was occupied by the Muslims in AD 635. Soon they erected the Dome of the Rock right where the old Holy Temple was. Prior to that, the Holy Temple itself was destroyed and burned to the ground by Titus Flavius in AD 70 and almost a million Jews were killed. The other ten tribes are considered lost and dispersed among the nations after the Northern House was conquered by Assyria in 772 BC. The Ottoman Empire later controlled Israel from 16th to the early 20th century shortly before Israel regained independence in May 14, 1948 after experiencing the in infamous Holocaust in WW II.

In the modern times, their troubles remained.

Jerusalem is destined to become the great City of God. We know that everything that pertains to God has been attacked by Satan relentlessly since the day she was founded. The Israelites, likewise has been continuously pursued for destruction by the Enemy. They are the most hated people on earth. Israel today is able to survived only because of God's grace and mercy and her alliance with the West. Majority of the Jews are not Christians--they remained to their old faith since they do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Nevertheless, God have compassion on them but their time is running out. It is not of their own doing and power that they became a nation again in 1948. It was the will of God to preserve Jerusalem, the Holy City, so as to fulfill the prophecies until Jesus Christ will come again. But there will be a time in the future that she will be trodden down by her enemies for 42 months prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months (Rev 11:2).

Now, picture about allies warring against each other in the last days:

“...its wings were torn off...” (Dan 7:4). USA shall sever ties with Great Britain. The Western allies shall be divided.

“Manasseh will feed on Ephraim, and Ephraim on Manasseh; together they will turn against Judah. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.” (Isa 9:21).

Chapters 1 and 2 in the book explain why Manasseh, the real Egypt is America and Ephraim is Great Britain along with the European Community as the Ten Lost Tribes. Judah remains as it is today but now named Israel instead of House of Judah. The above prophecy about them is a very grim scenario on the future of the Allies. The prophecy simply says they will be against each other and because of that. there will be no more unity. Then the source of strength of Israel will be no more to be left alone as easy prey of her enemies. How horrifying will it be when the enemies gather together to attack her.

Prior to meeting with Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu on May 20, 2011, President Barrack Obama of the United States had a speech to the State Department on the Arab world siding with the Arabs in regards to reaching peace deal between Israel and the Palestinian people. President Obama wants the peace discussion with Palestine and Israel should start with the pre-1967 territory. This means giving up West Bank, Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights. To Prime Minister Netanyahu, this is unacceptable since the Jewish population around those areas will become more vulnerable to attacks. This is just the beginning. Israel will feel more abandoned and left alone to defend herself in the future.

In One Jerusalem Website, it says:

In his State Department speech to the Arab world, President Obama threw Israel overboard as he demanded that Israel must make major concessions to achieve peace in the region. When you cut through his rhetoric, Obama believes that Israel must make major concessions that include Jerusalem and the right of return so there can be a peace.

Obama rejected the notion that the coming together of Fatah and Hamas is a deal breaker. He called it a legitimate question (How can Israel come to agreement with Hamas that does not recognize the State of Israel?) but he believes there is an answer to this question that will allow Israel to negotiate with Hamas. He gave lip service to the idea of a Jewish State and to Israel's security but he emphatically stated that the the indefensible borders of the 1967 (with undefined adjustments) will be the borders of the State of Israel and the new Palestinian State.

The Lord Jesus Christ had longed for the Jews to look up to Him, to depend on Him for Jerusalem's protection.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord" (Matt 23:37-39).

Until the Jews have accepted Jesus as their Saviour, their land will be in constant threat from her enemies until as Jesus Christ said, they will become desolate. Israel has for years been relying only on her allies and the United States for protection but they are not reliable as shown by the recent developments.

How I wish and I pray that Israel today will recognize that Jesus Christ came to re-establish the kingdom of Israel. He wanted all the chicks under His wings. And Israel today is scattered all around the world--literally chicks without a mother hen. What we see now as Israel is just a few tribes, primarily Judah and Benjamin. Jesus longed that the other chicks, the Ten Lost Tribes or the the Lost Sheep of Israel be gathered together in one place, in their original land of promise.

God through Isaiah had warned Israel not to rely on weapons and on Egypt for defence and protection but also on Him.

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD. Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He will rise up against the house of the wicked, against those who help evildoers. But the Egyptians are men and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out his hand, he who helps will stumble, he who is helped will fall; both will perish together.” (Isa 31:1-3).

We have learned that the real Egypt of today is the United States. Read Chapters 1 and 2 for details. Indeed, the United States is the world's policeman, major supplier of weapons, the protector of her allies, the source of strength of many nations, but they can not do everything. They are not like God. There will come a time that those who relied only on her and the United States will both perish together.

However, there will be a wonderful ending to Israel's sufferings. God promised them a bright future and hope. The whole Bible is full of promises about Jerusalem. The Kingdom of Jesus Christ is centered in Jerusalem. Soon the Holy City will come down from heaven, a city not made by man but by God.

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem , coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Rev 21:2-4).

That bright future is fast approaching but not until the "Jacob's Trouble" or the Great Tribulation will happen, until the land will lay desolate from the enemies and until Israel will recognize and accept that Jesus Christ is the true Messiah, their Saviour and the King of Kings.
